November 11th, 2016


In the last class in teaching practicum 1, we received a guest from Don Bosco University, she is a teacher for adolescence, the lesson was focus on activities that we can develop with adolescence; she taught activities that we can use for grammar, reading  and other for example the triangles or a book. It will very useful for my next teaching practicum. This subject showed the real environment that I will face with kids, besides it encouraged me to face a real situation I the future, I really appreciated the university the amazing experience with kids. Sometimes was really difficult for me to create the lesson and tried to control the behavior for them.

November 8th, 2016

This session was really different because we receive a special guest called Gabriela who is a teacher for kids, she provide us useful information to deal with students from 2 to 4 years old. She made to us realize the environment in a classroom, the situation that it might be presented during a session with kids. For example; kids are very honest with their thinking, they can be complicated in the way that   they might to the parents, the unusual behavior in order that someday they wanted to run other just they want to be quite. Besides, she provide with pieces of advice to face those situations, for instance; to be carefully with the physical connection with them in order to avoid future trouble with their parents, to create activities to control their hyperactive behavior etc. The information was really interesting and useful to use it in a future kids lesson.

Topic: Professions


The class was started with amazing game with Juan, he explanied to students the game, they were divided in two teams to play a game on the board. it was a circle with points from 10 to 200, students were hitting the circle with ball to get points. The teams who got more points was the winner I might see how students enjoying the game. 

Then, Andrea explained the new vocabulary using flashcards, when she finished Paolo gave them a paper for the reading part, at the beginning students were confusing but at the end they got it.Then Gabriela provided another paper to complete exercises, she verified aloud but students did not complete the exercises, so she were doing together. Finally, students made an exam for the last unit.

Skill: Listening

Topic: Professions

Listening class starting by me, I asked the students to stand up in order that they might sit down on the floor, I made two teams and explained the board game, one by one they threw a die to get point in order to move from the start to finish, at the beginning they did not understand but after I showed them they enjoyed the game.


Xiomara was engaged to introduce the question “Where does he/ she works” using the new vocabulary hospital, school, airport and restaurant. For the listening part Adriana provided a workshop to complete with the audio, also she gave some instruction for the exercises, students listened twice, at the beginning was difficult for them but they could complete the exercises. 

Then, students were matching the flashcards with the name on the board.At the end, teacher Gabriela made two teams, students were passing a chocolate ball using spoon from one side of the classroom to the other side, students understood faster

Topic: Professions

The class was started by Guillermo, he made two groups in order to play a game with students, the game consisted to throw a ball to get points from 30 to 50 depending in where place students hit a ball, the loser team  was named the flashcards base on profession that Guillermo was showing.

Then, Maria Jose presented the grammar structure “Verb  to be” (she is, I am) using flashcards, also she used Marian and Guillermo to explain better. To practice students receive a workshop for the new topic. After, teacher verified the answers in the board, they were pasted what they considered correct.

Then, Mariana gave them colors sticks, yellow; means I am, red means; She is, green means; he is. Mariana was showing flashcard about the profession in order to students raised the color sticks they considered. then students received a number to know who was their pairs in order that together created a little conversation using I am and He is, at the end Carlos passed two balloons to play hot potato, when he showed a flashcard student named it.

Topic: Professions

Students started the class making test about school object, once they finished students make two teams to play “reach the moon” with die students were getting the number to jump in the game, students understood they game until they practiced the did it excellent.


Nelson and Christian explained the new vocabulary using flashcard related to the professions, students were participated pronounce the words. To practice students made two different activities. First, they
received a page where they had to match the object related to the professions second; students were playing a memory game when they choose one student had to say “I wanted to be a doctor”.

Finally, students made two lines, face to face, students had to make and answers question, one ask what do you want to be? I want to be a doctor had to answer the other students.

Skill: Reading- Bart goes to school

Topic: School objects

Reading class started with entertainment activity, students made two teams they tried to make a basket when they did it; teams were getting point, students loved this new activity. Then teacher Yansi presented new vocabulary using flashcards and example to explained, some words were difficult for them to understand. For instance: fun and pack, it could work better presented an image more specific for them.



For reading, Nicole gave them a cartoon, it included a story using the new vocabulary and school objects however students did not receive an explanation for how read it. So, at the beginning was difficult for them, after they read it, teacher wrote three question about the text, student were answers together aloud.

Once they finished teacher Yansi requested students to stand up to play memory game on the board student had different flashcards with number on the board, they had to look for pairs in order to get points, it was difficult for them to understand but they can do it excellent. Finally students played “hot potato” when they got it teacher Yansi asked what was they proper name vocabulary.

Skill: Listening

Topic: School objects

Tuesday class Gabriela and I were teaching listening for children, at the beginning we might notice that students were more hyperactive than usual; nevertheless we had to deliver a new class. To star we gave some instruction to the students, they made two lines in order that in pairs they can hit the correct flashcard with a fly swatter that I was saying, all students might identify the vocabulary and performance the activity correctly.Gabriela asked students to pick off the school object they had on the back pack, Gabriela was asking do you have eraser? Students was answering Yes, I do/No I don’t at the beginning student did not understand because they were not paying attention however Gabriela gave them many explanation until they might produce the question and the answer.



The listening part Gabriela recorded an audio, we had some issue with the quality of the audio besides, students understood and complete the worksheet, and they pasted the vocabulary they heard on the side of yes and the other one in the opposite side. To practice students were playing hot potato, they had two different balls, one for question and the other one for answer. But because of the time we moved faster to the last activity. Finally the last activity called “Simon says” teacher Gabriela said “Simon says to bring an eraser” students had to look for the object and showed to the teacher.

Skill: Grammar- “Possessive nouns”

Topic: School objects



Students started the class making two lines, teacher Carlos was showing a picture if students knew what it was students hit a bell and answered, I might see students performed the activity correctly, also everyone wanted to participate even if sometimes students were hesitate I will do it definitely to review previous vocabulary. 


Teacher Carlos presented the new structure “Possessive nouns” using flashcards, Carlos was using students and teacher to make example in order that students can understand the new topic for example: Carlos’s eraser. Students were such motivate that they used their own object school to participate. Once they finished student received a worksheet to complete at it. At the end, teacher Carlos asked some students to pass in front and complete the sentences by themselves. Then student’s received another worksheet to draw a teacher and pasted on the board but because of the time teachers could no complete the activity.

 This day was different because Gabriela and I had the first opportunity to teach children. In addition, we had the responsibility to evaluate the unit 2. So, that means students were sitting in a line at the beginning of the class to be evaluated. Teacher Gabriela gave the instructions to perform the evaluation, students understood the first part easily however the second part was more challenge for them nevertheless they could do it the entire exam.  





Once they finished Gabriela started with the first activity, in this one student had to listens carefully the animals vocabulary Gabriela was saying in order that students might complete a bingo. The activity worked perfectly, students understood how it worked to get theirs bingo, also because they reviewed previous vocabulary.

For the new unit, the vocabulary was presented using flashcards I explained to them 8 different one they were repeating many times to practice the pronunciation and memorized the new words, after that students were picked up a mini flashcard one by one from a box, students had to say the name of the vocabulary they took it, at the beginning they were afraid nevertheless they might identify the new words. Then, teacher Gabriela gave them a worksheet where students circled the object they used it at school, and the second part students had to write the sentence I used ______ and added some vocabulary  they already know. Students were excited to do the exercises they did it the faster they can.


 At the end of the class students played hot potato, when student took the ball they passed in front and paste the correct name of the object. This activity was enjoying for students because everyone wanted to participated for the reason that they learned the new words.

Topic: Animals


Adrina started the class giving instruction to the student, they were been getting happy face all the time they participated and the students who got more happy face will win a prize. After, Xiorama gave students a puzzle they had to order in pairs, the pair who finished first got happy face to verify Xiomara was asking what animals is that? While they were answering depending on their puzzle.

To present the vocabulary Mariana used flashcards once they understood students practiced the pronunciation; in addition students were matching the words with the flashcards. Xiomara gave students a text they had to read it to complete the practice however some students did not know what is the meaning of read that why they could not complete but Adriana and xiomara were checking and explaining the instruction. When students finished three students read the text aloud. In addition, Adriana gave them another page to complete and exercise about the text.

Next activity students were sitting on the floor, Xiomara select students to they had to write the letter missing o a poster to complete a word. Also, Adriana was splitting a bottle, this was using to select the students to participate, they took a question from a box and answered the questions.

Skill: Listening Topic: Animals


Listening class started with dynamic which all students had to touch the flashcards with animals on the board that Mariana was saying, the activity was really interacted however some students can not participate because students did not have space it would be better if the activities was ordering in another way. When students finished Marina explained new vocabulary (friend, wanted, sad, saw, walking and running) using flashcards, also she used clear and simple examples. This kind of explanation helped students to understand better.

Once students might able to identify the vocabulary Mariana asked to students to make a line in order that everyone can participate when Mariana told them one vocabulary. Additionally, Maria Jose prepared students giving them instruction for the listening part, students have to color the animals and circle the animal they were listening base on the story. When Maria Jose confirmed students have finished the worksheet she request students stranded up to make to line, and with fly swatter students were touching the vocabulary marina was saying. In the last activity students had to make a circle and

played the game hot potato but with hat nevertheless there was not time to do it.

September 13th

Topic: Unit 2 Animals

The class was starting with an explanation of some rules which Juan explain to the students in order that they might use during the class after, he gave students instruction for an evaluation students had five minutes to do it for that reason both teacher was checking if they understood the instruction and explaining doubt.

Once students finished Juan made an activity called ‘’yellow and black’’ the right side of the classroom was black and the left side was yellow, they had to move to the side teacher Juan said when they made a mistake student had to sat down until the last three student were playing teachers gave them a sticker. Students understood the game and enjoying the activity.

Teacher Juan explain the new vocabulary (Lion, gorilla, giraffe, beard, etc.) using disposable plates represent the different animals, students paid attention and enjoying the way teacher Juan explain the vocabulary. In the practice part students received a page from teacher Andrea they had to match the animals name with the animals pictures because they understood clearly students did faster the activity.  So, teacher Andrea continued with the next activity, students made a circle and with disposables plates represented an animal students had to answer what animals they had it.

Finally, Teacher Andrea played ‘’hot potato’’, students was telling the name of the animal that she was showing she used the disposables plates. 


September 8th

Topic: The family members

Listening class started by Cristian, he requested students to make a circle and explained the pronunciation of a chant in order that everyone might sing it and did what the chant named “if you are happy” said. Students were able to song and followed the action of the chant. Nelson continued explaining vocabulary using flashcards (nice, smart, engineer, build and Bridges) and example related with the words. In addition, Nelson pasted the flashcard on the board and encouraged students to match the word with the flashcard to verify if they understood the vocabulary.
Afterward, Cristian gave students a short text; they had to read it and answered the question belong both teachers were checking and monitoring the progress of the activity once students finished Nelson read the text aloud to verify the students answers.


In the last activity students played the ‘‘hot potato game’’ students passed the potato until Cristian said stop, the students who had it, passing to the front and point out the vocabulary that teachers told them this activity was great because students really wanted to participate. 

September 6th

Topic: The family members

This week Carlos and Guillermo taught the listening class the skill that I think is one of the most challenging skill however they could overcome excellent. Guillermo started giving students identification card and Carlos taught some sentences that they were using during the class such as “raised your hands and May I go to the bathroom”. In the first activity students made two groups and they had to shoot an arrow to the pictures pasted on the board depending what word Carlos said (father, mother, etc.) this activity helped to verify if students remembered the previous vocabulary in order to continued used during the lesson.

Guillermo explain the questions and answer who is/are he/she/they? He/she/the is/are my… using picture however students were energetic and they were not paying attention. Afterward, students played memory game while Guillermo was preparing the material Carlos explained a little be more the sentences and the answers using example with Gaby and Paolo in order that students be clear for the used and structure.

 When everything was ready students playing the game matching the images in the board the father picture with the other father picture and so on. The listening part was presented by Carlos but he had some trouble with the audio nevertheless he used his voice which confused students because they were expected the audio, but they understood. He gave students a page with some instruction, students had to circle the members of the family Carlos was mentioning, finally students drew their family member and presented to each others.

Topic: Possessive Adjectives

This was the second class for practicing teaching children however the class was special for the reason that students did not come in for especial reason nevertheless Gabriel and Paolo did the best they could do it.

Gabriela started the class gave students identifications once all students had it Paolo continued explaining instructions to sing a chant related with family members  vocabulary, he support the chant using a poster with the lyrics in order that everyone saw it and follow the activity. To present the grammar structure Paolo created sentences and explained the correct used of “Possessive adjectives” also he encouraged students to participate and passed to the front to complete sentences that he had already posted on the board.


To practice the new grammar structure Paolo provided students with a worksheet where students had to fill in the blank spaces with the correct structure base on the context. Once students finished Gabriela divided students base on the color pages she have already gave then, also she gave students pictures with different families vocabulary, students had to ask and answered like this “who is she/he? She is her sister” Gabriela was checking students to verify the correct used of the structure. In the last activity Gabriel asked some students to present a mini conversation using the same picture to the previous activity and students had to show what they learned.

The first practice with children was started by Yancy Hernandez and Nicole Hernandez, in order to students know to each other they made a activity which students made a circle and said their name when they had a teddy in their hands, also they wrote down in a piece of paper. The activity was really good to know students but it could be better if they gave them clear instruction in the way students felt comfortable with the activity.


Nicole presented the vocabulary using pictures and her hands to explain them the family members. Students practiced the vocabulary matching flashcards (images of family member with the flashcard with the spelling of the family member) then, Nicole review the vocabulary with a song and using the images.Finally, teachers gave a paper and images and students had to create a family tree, they explained how to do it and pasted in the correct way.

Topic: Welcome to Bermudas



Reading class was opened by Cristian, he divided students in two groups and gave instruction about how played “broken phone”, we have to pass messages one by one in the team and the last person had to write down on the board as well, if the messages was correct team got a point he made this activity to break the ice the instruction was clearly that made the dynamic worked. Nelson gave students pieces with a word we had to match the word with the picture in the board then, he explained the vocabulary using definition and some example. 

To continue the class Andrea gave a page with a reading task we had to read the faster we can to answer questions making by Andrea she also correct mistakes and explain a little more about the reading. Next activity was performance by Yancy, she made couples and gave us the instruction to make a role place this activity could be more specific in the instruction objective. Finally, Christian gave pieces of paper which had a vocabulary for the class people who had it they most explain the meaning of the words Christian was checking and cleared mistakes.

August 25th

Topic: Resolving Cases

Listening class starte by dynamic Gabriela callejas gave us an instruction we have to pass one botter of water the way she wanted without touching by the hands students could not pass it correctly had questions based on one of the last lesson, Carlos encouraged ud to remember vocabulary from one of the lesson taught before (security guard, detective, thief etc.)    He used gestured to remember the word and also made students participated.
Next part of the lesson was managed by Guillermo he made a groups and gave us pieces of paper to order it in the way we thought was correct, after that he recorded an audio twice to verify if the order was correct and also modified it was necessary. Gabriela Rodriguez continued the class with a task where we had to choose if the sentences were correct or incorrect related with the audio we heard two times more to answers question.

Finally, Gabriela Callejas made a game called see and ground person who made a mistake had to pronounce one of the vocabulary we learned during the class, I guess this activity could be more useful if she was asking about meaning of words or even question about the record. 

August 23th

Topic: Direct Speech


Class was started by dynamic, students was divide in two groups, Marian was writing word on the board in order that one member had guessed the word base on mimic his/her team was making, when team guessed one got a point until team guessed all the words we knew which team was the winner. 

To present the topic Nicole used pictures and gave students examples using those images to give ideas to use it in real life. I made pair and gave a them a pieces of papers students had to ask his/her partner what is his/her favorite hobbies, and what they would like to do in the future in order that they could write 6 sentences using the direct speech after they finish they shared with their classmate their sentences and one partner shared with all students. Juan Jose gave students a paper with example using the direct speech in order they had the opportunity to make a conversation base on their information at the end of the activity students presented their conversation with the classmates. Finally, Mariana played the hot potato, when she said stop students who has the ball had to take a pices of paper from a box and transformed the sentences using the direct speech.
